Pampanga shootout: 2 Chinese slain
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—Two Chinese suspected of kidnapping three of their countrymen were killed on Thursday morning in a reported shootout with members of the Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Angeles City.
Police Col. Amante Daro, the CIDG chief for Central Luzon, said the two traded shots with the lawmen at Forest Park in Barangay Pampang at 9 a.m.
They were in a Hyundai Starex van that was allegedly used in the kidnapping of Gang Yang, Yong Long Chen and Showang Wu on June 1 in Pasay City, Daro said.
The three Chinese victims were rescued in Angeles, also on June 1. Two other Chinese, identified as Yang Jun and Wu Ze Han, who were linked to the kidnapping were arrested on June 6. Two of their accomplices were the slain Chinese. —TONETTE OREJAS
