NBI to probe slay try on Maguindanao massacre witness
MANILA, Philippines – Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra on Wednesday said he would order the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to conduct an investigation on the murder attempt on one of the government’s key witnesses in the Maguindanao massacre case.
Mohamad Sangki was ambushed Wednesday morning while traveling along Tantangan, South Cotabato on their way to the airport from Tacurong City.
“I will definitely ask the NBI to investigate this. Sangki is a vital witness in the continuing trial of the Maguindanao massacre case,” Guevarra said.
He said the investigation to be conducted by the NBI would be separate from what the police would be doing.
This is the second time Sangki survived an attempt to kill him. Last March, Sangki was ambushed while he was in Sharif Aguak, Maguindanao.
