NFA open to probe over rice with foul odor

/ 04:10 AM May 16, 2020

The National Food Authority (NFA) said it was open to any investigation amid reports that its rice stocks issued to some legislators for relief distribution had foul odor.

In an online hearing of the House committee on agriculture and food, Agriculture Secretary William Dar said he would look into allegations voiced by Nueva Ecija Rep. Estrellita Suansing and Quezon Province Rep. Wilfrido Enverga, who said they received NFA rice with foul smell.

“We assure the public that the rice we distribute are fresh from the rice mills, which we contracted to mill our palay stocks,” NFA administrator Judy Carol Dansal said. —Karl R. Ocampo
