Mandaluyong mass testing: 55 ‘suspects’ positive for coronavirus

MANILA, Philippines — Fifty-five of the 510 “suspects” for COVID-19 in Mandaluyong City tested positive for the novel coronavirus, the local government said Saturday.

The individuals took part in the city’s mass testing.

“Lumabas sa resulta ng isinagawang COVID-19 testing sa naunang 510 swab specimens mula sa Suspects Case na 455 sa kanila ay negatibo sa COVID-19 at 55 lang ang nagpositibo,” the City Public Information Office announced in a Facebook post.

(The result shows that from the conducted COVID-19 testing of the initial 510 swab specimens from Suspects Case, 455 of them were found negative for the virus and only 55 were found positive.)

An individual will be tagged as a suspect if they have COVID-19 symptoms but have yet to be tested for the new coronavirus.

The Mandaluyong City government had a partnership with Philippine Red Cross (PRC) to undertake mass testing of frontliners and suspected carriers of  SARS-CoV-2, a coronavirus that causes severe respiratory ailment COVID-19.

The City Health Department will take care of the new COVID-19 cases, according to the local government.

So far, Mandaluyong has 410 COVID-19 cases, including 36 deaths and 73 recoveries.
