The office of Vice President Leni Robredo has purchased P14-million worth of test kits developed by scientists from the University of the Philippines (UP) to support the call for mass testing in the country to curb the spread of the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The Office of the Vice President said it used its own funds to purchase the test kits which will be delivered to San Lazaro Hospital, Lung Center of the Philippines, V. Luna Hospital and Bicol Regional Diagnostic and Reference Laboratory, which are certified laboratories for COVID-19 testing.

The kits will help conduct a total of 10,000 tests. —Patricia Denise M. Chiu
