P10M in property damaged as fire razes resort
MANILA, Philippines—A fire razed a resort and plantation causing an estimated P10 million worth of damages in Tiaong town, Quezon province Sunday, a police report said Monday.
Citing Tiaong Bureau of Fire Protection Fire Officer 1 Eugene Loyola, Tiaong police said that the fire that razed the Villa Escudero Resort and Plantation in Lalig village in Tiaong, Quezon started from the resort’s Garden Pavillion at around 12:50 p.m. and was put out at around 1:24 p.m.
Loyola said that an electrical short circuit caused the fire.
Head of Tiaong police Chief Superintendent Joriz Cantoria stated that employees saw smoke coming from the ‘anahaw’ roof of the resort’s Pag-ibig Hall where preparations for the celebration of the Feast of the Ascension was being made.
Cantoria said he immediately called Tiaong BFP and nearby police stations and led his men in assisting to put out the fire.
