Cagayan Valley is officially free of COVID-19 after 26 patients heal

CAUAYAN CITY –– The Cagayan Valley region has no new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infections after the last of its 26 infected patients was discharged on Tuesday (April 21).

A Cauayan City health worker, designated as PH4805, was released after being given a clean bill of health.

Dr. Ildefonso Costales, medical director of the Southern Isabela Medical Center chief, said PH4805 was the last patient to have recovered among 26 patients who were sent home. The region has one COVID-19 fatality.

For the 15th straight day, Cagayan province has been free of COVID-19, after 14 recovered patients, mostly from Tuguegarao City, and the towns of Gattaran and Piat were released by the Cagayan Valley Medical Center, according to Dr. Glenn Mathew Baggao, chief of that medical center.

In Isabela province, eight patients who have healed were from the towns of Alicia, Cabagan, and Echague, and the cities of Cauayan and Santiago.

In Nueva Vizcaya province, five patients came from the towns of Bayombong, Solano, and Alfonso Castañeda. The lone fatality came from Solano.

The provinces of Quirino and Batanes have remained COVID-19-free.
