BJMP chief visits QC Jail after 9 inmates test positive for coronavirus
MANILA, Philippines — The head of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) on Sunday inspected the Quezon City Jail after nine of its inmates tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
In photos provided by the BJMP, jail director Allan Iral is shown visiting the Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory and the jail’s COVID-19 Isolation Center.
Previously, the BJMP reported that along with nine inmates at the QC Jail, nine employees of the BJMP have also contracted the coronavirus.
In response, the BJMP announced that it will be conducting a “random” COVID-19 testing of QC Jail inmates.
According to Iral, the nine persons deprived of liberty showed “positive progress” on their health as of Sunday morning.
