5 new COVID-9 cases reported in lone Calauag, Quezon barangay
LUCENA CITY – Five new cases of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) recorded in Calauag, Quezon on Saturday were all from a single barangay.
Calauag Mayor Rosalina Visorde disclosed that the five confirmed COVID-19 patients are residents of Barangay (village) Pinagkamaligan. The new cases brings the total number of COVID-19 cases in he municipality to seven.
“They were all asymptomatic and under quarantine in an isolation area and ready for transfer to Quezon Medical Center (in Lucena City),” Visorde said on social media.
She also revealed that the five COVID-19 patients had close contacts with the first recorded confirmed coronavirus carrier in the locality, a 62 year-old female who had died.

Incidentally, the second local COVID-19 case, a 28-year-old male, had also had direct contact with the fatality, the record of the town’s rural health unit said.

The authorities have been conducting massive contact tracing to curb the spread 0f the dreaded virus.
As of 4 p.m. Saturday, the local health office revealed that the municipality has 13 suspected COVID-19 carriers or those who were showing symptoms but have yet to be tested.
As of Saturday, 48 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Quezon province.
