Vico Sotto pokes fun at TV caption describing him as ‘tricycle operator’

MANILA, Philippines — “May tricycle pala ako!”

[So it seems I have a tricycle!]

This was the reaction of Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto on Sunday as he laughed at a caption on a television news report describing him as a “tricycle operator.”

In the said report, Sotto was discussing updates on the city government’s measures during the coronavirus pandemic such as their distribution of food packs and the launching of their own social amelioration program.

But when Sotto’s name flashed on the report, his description read as “tricycle operator” instead of “Pasig City mayor”.

Sotto, in jest, shared a screenshot of the report on his Instagram account.

The producer of the report apologized for the mistake.

But Sotto had this reply on Twitter:  “Don’t worry about it! Sa panahon ngayon, kailangan din natin ng konting comic relief.”

In a virtual briefing on Sunday, Sotto announced that Pasig City would provide a subsidy for its residents who are not covered by the national government’s social amelioration program (SAP).

He clarified, however, that the amount would not be as much as what the national government’s SAP would give.
