2 students killed, 3 others hurt in Ecija road accident
SCIENCE CITY OF MUÑOZ, Philippines—Two freshmen students of the Central Luzon State University died while three others were hurt when the tricycle they were riding in was hit by another tricycle and a truck in Barangay Bantog here on Sunday night.
Servillano Gonzales Jr., CLSU Security officer, said Stefanie Santos, 16, of Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya; and Lileth Linsangan, 16, of Guimba, Nueva Ecija, died when their tricycle was bumped from the rear by a “kolong-kolong” (a tricycle used as a delivery vehicle), forcing it to veer to the opposite lane where it collided with a truck at 6:30 p.m.
Their companions, fellow freshmen students Crizza Villanueva, Riza May Linsangan and Geraldine Angeles, were taken to a hospital in Cabanatuan City.
Gonzales said the five students came from a shopping mall here and were on their way to their dormitory at the CLSU campus when the accident occurred along the Maharlika Highway. Gonzales said the drivers of the truck, the tricycle and the kolong-kolong surrendered to the police.
