MMDA general manager tests positive for COVID-19
MANILA, Philippines — The general manager of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
“I wish to inform everyone that I will have to work from home as I have been found positive for COVID-19,” MMDA general manager Jojo Garcia said Saturday.
“My work puts me under a lot of risks, and this is part of it,” he added. “I embrace this challenge with full trust and faith in God that I will overcome the same with your prayers.”
Garcia said his COVID-19 test results were released on Friday night.
“As I tested positive for COVID-19, my doctor advised me to boost my immune system. As of now, I’m experiencing a mild cough. I hope that my overall health will improve soonest,” he said.
Article continues after this advertisementGarcia is currently under self-quarantine, as earlier stated by MMDA spokesperson Celine Pialago on March 23 as he had been in a meeting with another attendee who tested positive for COVID-19.

Pialago is also under self-isolation
The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country jumped to 803, with 54 deaths and 31 recoveries.
