6 more COVID-19 patients hike Cagayan Valley cases to 11
CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela –– Six more people tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), raising the number of cases in the Cagayan Valley to 11, the Department of Health said on Friday (March 27).
Three new patients came from Alicia town in Isabela province, while three other infected people are from Cagayan province’s Tuguegarao City, said Dr. Leticia Cabrera, DOH Cagayan Valley director.
They have been confined to the Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC) in Tuguegarao.
The Alicia patients, identified as PH837, PH838, and PH840, belong to the same family who traveled to Manila and Antipolo City on March 15, Cabrera said.
Dr. Glenn Matthew Baggao, CVMC director, said PH837 is a 52-year-old woman who had coughs and cold and was suffering from diabetes mellitus and hypertension.
Patient PH838, a 25-year-old woman, is seven-weeks pregnant and had not displayed any symptoms, while her 27-year-old husband, PH840, had a fever when they were admitted on March 19. The husband was now asymptomatic today, Baggao said.
The three Tuguegarao patients had direct contact with the fireman, dubbed PH275, who was the first recorded COVID-19 case. The first patient is the fireman’s 73-year-old mother, while the other two were the nurses who took care of him.
The 31-year-old nurse, Patient PH839, has colds, while her 30-year-old colleague, PH841, had a dry cough and sore throat.
Two of the five initial COVID-19 patients are still confined at the CVMC. The third is confined at the Southern Isabela Medical Center, while former Rep. Ramon Nolasco Sr. had been isolated at home.
The Nueva Vizcaya COVID-19 patient died.
