MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Saturday assured people that there will be no delays, particularly in checkpoints, in the delivery of essential goods to towns and cities affected by the enhanced community quarantine.

“Ang ating PNP personnel na nakatalaga diyan, nabigyan ng proper guidance. Wala na pong made-delay sa pagpasok at pagbiyahe sa mga basic commodities,” PNP spokesman Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac said in a Laging Handa press briefing.

For drivers of delivery vehicles providing basic goods, Banac said identification cards and signage should be posted on the vehicle that they are using to deliver essential supplies.

Banac said truck drivers and cargo should also show their delivery invoices and receipts to police officers stationed at checkpoints.

During the quarantine period, those allowed to operate and remain open are: “public markets, supermarkets, groceries, convenience stores, hospitals, medical clinics, pharmacies and drug stores, food preparation and delivery services, water-refilling stations, manufacturing and processing plants of basic food products and medicines, banks, money transfer services, power, energy, water and telecommunications supplies and facilities.”
