DIGOS CITY –– The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) here announced the suspension of jail visits as a precaution against the possible spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the facility.

Jail Chief Supt. Leo Baldon said the suspension is concerning the government’s Code Red Alert over COVID-19.

Baldon said they temporarily suspended all kinds of visiting activities, including visits by service providers.

Baldon said they valued the importance of visitation services, but he sought understanding for this recent precaution.

Meanwhile, Baldon disclosed that the Digos jail activated its e-dalaw system, which allows inmates to communicate with their loved ones through social media platforms such as Facebook and Skype.

Inmates who wish to avail of the e-dalaw service need to ask the jail guards for schedule./lzb
