TUGUEGARAO CITY – A 27-year-old lumber trader was shot dead by an assailant who posed as a customer at his shop on Friday (Feb. 28), police said.

The gunman, who was wearing eyeglasses, was peering at prices inside the LMCJ shop in Barangay San Gabriel when he suddenly turned and shot businessman Miguelito Ortiz in the head and torso at 5:10 p.m., said Police Lieutenant Isabelita Gano, Tuguegarao City police spokesperson.

The suspect fled, leaving Ortiz’s shocked workers unharmed. Police have yet to determine why the victim was attacked./lzb
