A hooded gunman shot him repeatedly with a .45 caliber pistol before fleeing on board a motorcycle on Friday night.
Investigators recovered five spent bullet shells at the crime scene, but are still piecing together clues to explain why Dalangin was targeted.
Dalangin’s murder “was not only an attack against a member of the Philippine Bar, it is also an attack against the legal order and justice system,” said Wilson Chua, president of the IBP Nueva Ecija chapter, in a Saturday (Feb. 29) statement.
IBP-NE described Dalangin, a law professor and a barrister of the public attorneys’ office (PAO), as “a good, brilliant. and respected Ecija lawyer.”
