2 gov’t workers held for selling shabu in Koronadal

KORONADAL CITY –– Anti-narcotics operatives arrested Wednesday (Feb. 5) two civil servants for selling crystal meth or shabu during an anti-drugs operation inside a government compound here.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 12 Director Naravy Duquiatan identified the suspects as Renante Anas, 36, a resident of Barangay Buenavista in Surallah, South Cotabato and Joemel Cabrera, 39, of Purok Masipag, Barangay Sta. Cruz here.

They were collared in a buy-bust operation inside the South Cotabato Provincial Engineer’s Office in Barangay Zone 4.

Duquiatan said both conspired to sell a sachet of shabu to a poseur-buyer in exchange for P500. When arrested, another sachet of shabu was also seized from the suspects.

Duquiatan said the two are employees of the Provincial Engineer’s Office of South Cotabato. Anas is a permanent employee as a heavy equipment operator, while Cabrera is a contractual employee.

Charges are being prepared against the two, who are now jailed at the PDEA detention facility in General Santos City.
