DASOL, PANGASINAN—The fishing community here has joined the search and rescue efforts of the Philippine Coast Guard for seven fishermen who have been missing since Jan. 13. Chief Master Sergeant Ruben Mayrina, head of the maritime police precinct here, said villagers had been tapped to help locate the fishermen.

The Coast Guard also deployed the BN Islander for aerial surveillance some 60 to 90 nautical miles off Camaso Island, where the fishermen were last located.

The fishermen on board the F/B Narem 2 left Barangay Hermosa here on Jan. 6 for a fishing trip into the open sea. Most of them were from Infanta town while others were from Barangay Hermosa here. They were expected to return here on Jan. 14.
