Mall clinic denies having SARS patient from China

MANILA, Philippines — Healthway Medical, a mall-based clinic, denies that one of its clinics in Shangri-La Plaza has a patient from China who has been diagnosed with severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).

“A certain individual is claiming that there is a confirmed SARS patient from China that was seen by a Healthway doctor. Please be advised that THIS IS A FAKE NEWS,” Healthway Medical said in an advisory on its official website.

“There was no reported SARS case in any Healthway clinic specifically the Shangri-La branch,” it added.

Recent reports said the mysterious viral pneumonia that affected more than 50 people in Wuhan, China was not SARS. China initially reported that the outbreak which affect 59 people was due to a virus from a family pathogens including SARS.

The mall clinic further said it “will take this matter seriously and will not hesitate to take necessary actions” after the fake report.
