MANILA, Philippines – More airline companies are set to resume making trips to and from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) on Tuesday, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said.

DOTr relayed on Monday night that several international airlines like Malaysia Airlines would resume flights on Tuesday — a day after Naia resumed partial operations after being shut down due to the ash fall brought by the Taal Volcano’s eruption.

“Following the reopening of Manila International Airport today, Malaysia Airlines will resume its operations into and out of the city on 14 January,” Malaysia Airlines said in an official statement.

At Naia, flights were placed on hold as volcanic ash covered the runways, even if the volcano was located around 65 kilometers away from the National Capital Region.
