Senate suspends work on Jan. 9 for Traslacion

/ 04:58 PM January 07, 2020

MANILA, Philippines — The Senate will suspend its work on Thursday (Jan. 9) in anticipation of the traffic congestion due to the annual Traslacion of the Black Nazarene.

In an advisory issued on Tuesday, all Senate officials and employees were advised that they need not report to work on Thursday due to the expected difficulty in commuting to and from the Senate building due to the procession in Manila.

“Meetings, committee hearings, and other activities may proceed subject to the discretion of the Chairman, Senator, and office concerned,” the advisory read.

However, it noted that additional compensation “may not be claimed for work that will be rendered in the exigency of the service” on Thursday.
