Did You Know: Philippine Commision on Women

The National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women was founded on Jan. 7, 1975, by virtue of Presidential Decree No. 633.

It was renamed the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) with the enactment of Republic Act No. 9710 or the Magna Carta of Women on Aug. 14, 2009.

The PCW is the primary policy-making and coordinating body on women and gender equality concerns. The commission’s office is located in San Miguel, Manila.—Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
