Korean paramedics, engineers repair structures in Legazpi City village
LEGAZPI CITY –– Residents of a coastal village here received a post-Christmas gift after a humanitarian mission was held on Tuesday morning.
A 16-man Korean 911 Search and Rescue team (911 S&RT) composed of paramedics and engineers, has started to repair damaged structures and conducted a medical mission among residents of Barangay North Victory, one of the coastal villages ravaged by storm surges brought by Severe Tropical Storm “Ursula” last Christmas, said Kang Woo Lee, chair of the 911 S&RT.
Among those repaired were five houses and a walk bridge, which were partially damaged during the storm.
The group also conducted medical check-ups and gave medicines to
hundreds of residents suffering from skin diseases, asthma, and other respiratory illnesses.
On Monday, Lee said their team also conducted fogging in Barangay Bulusan, in Libon town, Albay, to prevent the spread of dengue.
He said the team composed of employees and volunteers from Korea Ocean Engineering and Consultants Co., Ltd. has been holding humanitarian missions for the past 40 years and have undertaken several missions in 15 countries, including the Philippines.
