1 killed, companion hurt in Pasay shooting incident
MANILA, Philippines — A man died while his companion was injured after two unidentified motorcycle-riding gunmen shot them in Pasay early Tuesday morning.
Report from Pasay police identified the victims as Arevalo Butchoy and Jonie Masagca, 24, who are both of Maypajo, Caloocan City.
In a phone interview, Pasay police chief Col. Bernard Yang said the two residents of Caloocan City, aboard a motorcycle, were traversing Taft Avenue corner Menlo Street when the suspects, also riding a motorcycle in tandem, shot them at 1:50 a.m.
Butchoy died on the spot while nearby barangay officials were able to bring Masagca to Pasay General Hospital for treatment.
Yang said investigators are still looking into the possible motive behind the killing.
Police are also checking the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage in the area to identify the suspects.
