Wet, cloudy Christmas seen down South as LPA looms
MANILA, Philippines – Two low-pressure areas (LPA) east of Mindanao are expected to gatecrash the Christmas holidays and bring cloudy skies and intermittent rain showers in parts of the Visayas and Mindanao, the state weather bureau said Friday.
In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that an LPA was spotted 795 kilometers east northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.
Because of the LPA, its trough will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms over the Caraga region, Davao region, Northern Mindanao, Eastern and Central Visayas.
Pagasa is also monitoring another LPA, which was spotted at 2,650 kilometers east of Mindanao and is expected to enter the PAR by Monday, Pagasa added.
The easterlies, meanwhile, will bring cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms over Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, and Quezon province.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms also due to the easterlies, will prevail in Metro Manila and the rest of the country, the state weather bureau added.
