MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang refused to comment on the impeachment of President Donald Trump by the United States House of Representatives.

The House impeached Trump over charges that he abused his power by enlisting a foreign government to investigate a political rival ahead of the 2020 election.

“In the same way that we react on any intrusion into the processes of our government, we’d rather not make any comment on that,” presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo said in a Palace briefing.

In response, Trump said he did nothing wrong in seeking foreign investigation of political rivals.

“It doesn’t really feel like we’re being impeached,” Trump said.

“The country is doing better than ever before. We did nothing wrong. We did nothing wrong. And we have tremendous support in the Republican party, like we’ve never had before,” he added.
