PNP security remains for SEA Games delegates, athletes
MANILA, Philippines — Members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) maintained their visibility to secure guests, delegates and athletes even as the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games held its closing ceremony on Wednesday.
In a statement, Lt. Gen. Archie Gamboa, the PNP officer-in-charge, ordered continued police assistance to athletes, officials and guests in their billeting venues and the airport.
According to the PNP, untoward incidents were recorded as the games officially ended at New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac.
Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac, PNP spokesman, said police officers in tourist destinations in Luzon and Visayas remained alert.
“PNP authorities have been duly notified by protocol officers of delegations who have made travel arrangements for some athletes, game officials and guests who signified intention to visit other destinations in the country,” Banac said.
The PNP also reminded gun owners that the ban on carrying firearms remains until Saturday, Dec. 14, in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and La Union.
