2nd deadly Bacolod fire in as many days kills 5-year-old boy
BACOLOD CITY—A five-year-old boy died in a fire at a village here past 5 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 28, while he was asleep in the house of his mother’s cousin.
The boy, Reniel, was left by his mother, Beverly Macapal, to the care of her cousin, Belinda Cuadra, who owned the two-story house that went up in flames.
Chief Insp. Publico Plotena, Bacolod City fire marshal, said the boy was trapped inside Cuadra’s house. Beverly often leaves her son to her cousin’s care to go to work.
The fire started at Cuadra’s house, which had been reduced to ashes, but investigators have yet to know what caused it.
Three other houses beside Cuadra’s were damaged by the fire, which was the second is as many days in the city.
Last Tuesday, six persons were killed in another fire at the Java Pension House.
