Resumption of Enrile plunder trial moved to January

/ 05:20 AM November 28, 2019

MANILA, Philippines — The Sandiganbayan Third Division has said that former Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile’s trial for 15 counts of graft resumes on Jan. 14, while that for plunder for his alleged involvement in the pork barrel scam led by Janet Lim-Napoles follows on Jan. 15.

The Sandiganbayan originally set Enrile’s hearings in October but motions filed by his lawyers caused several delays.

Plunder is a nonbailable offense but the court allowed Enrile to skip detention, given his advanced age. —Patricia Chiu
