Gordon pushes charges against Albayalde
MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Richard Gordon on Wednesday twitted Interior Secretary Eduardo Año for saying that resigned Philippine National Police chief Oscar Albayalde was already cleared of administrative accountability after he relinquished his post over the “ninja cop” controversy.
Gordon, chair of the Senate blue ribbon and justice committees, formally presented to his colleagues the joint committee report on the investigation into the supposed recycling of almost P650 million worth of “shabu” (crystal meth) by Albayalde’s former subordinates in 2013.
“If no suspension can be imposed, fines can still be imposed chargeable to whatever benefits Albayalde may still get,” he told the Senate plenary. —Marlon Ramos
