Businessman gunned down in Quezon

LUCENA CITY, Philippines  – A businessman was shot and killed in Tiaong town in Quezon province on Friday night, police said.

Colonel Audie Madrideo, Quezon police director identified the victim as Orlando Evangelista, 50, and resident of Barangay (village) San Agustin, Tiaong. Police said  Evangelista was a businessman but the police report did not state what business was the victim into.

According to the police report, the victim was aboard his car, a BMW 3161 sedan, and  was  waiting for somebody buying rambutan plants in Barangay Bulakin around 8:10 p.m. when the still unidentified gunman armed with  9mm pistol suddenly appeared and repeatedly shot him.

The suspect who was wearing a black hooded jacket, black jeans and slippers, later escaped aboard a motorcycle being driven by his cohort, police said.

Evangelista died while being rushed to the San Pablo City Medical Hospital after sustaining  multiple bullet wounds on different parts of the body.

Investigators have yet to identify the gunamn as well as establish the  possible motive behind the murder. /muf
