10 minors face raps for sharing on social media video of girl being molested
CEBU CITY, Philippines –– The Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) will file charges against 10 minors for sharing or posting online a video of a minor female student while she was being molested inside a car in Cebu City.
Brigadier General Debold Sinas, PRO-7 director, said they were able to take screenshots of the posted video which they will use as evidence against those behind the video and those who shared it online.
The police and relatives of the 16-year-old victim were able to pinpoint the personalities who took the video. They were also able to trace the people who posted and shared the video.
Sinas has warned that those caught sharing or posting the video will be charged for violation of the Anti-Cybercrime Law and for child abuse.
The victim and her sister went to the PRO-7 headquarters on Wednesday afternoon to seek assistance from the police against those involved in the posting of the video.
Sinas said the ones involved are minors between the ages of 15 and 16.
Article continues after this advertisementNo details about the suspects have been released yet by the police, but Sinas said he would seek intervention from the Department of Social Welfare and Development in the handling the suspects.
Article continues after this advertisementSinas advised the parents of the young suspects to surrender those behind the video or they would be treated as fugitives.
He said Cebu City police director Gemma Vinluan has been tasked to head the investigation and the filing of charges against the suspects.
The police director said they were continuously getting in touch with the victim and giving her support. He said the victim was traumatized but would continue to go to school. /muf
