64 convicts freed using GCTA surrender in Ilocos

DAGUPAN CITY–A total of 64 people who were prematurely freed using the now controversial Good Conduct Time Allowance or GCTA law have surrendered to the police.

Police said a total of 77 convicts had been released through GCTA in the four provinces of the Ilocos region.

Records from the police showed that 41 of the freed convicts are still in police custody while 23 had been been turned over to the Bureau of Corrections as of Wednesday, Sept. 18. Yolanda Sotelo/TSB
