MANILA, Philippines — Government employees will get free rides on the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) on Thursday, September 19, in celebration of the 119th anniversary of the Philippine Civil Service (PSC).

In a Twitter post on Wednesday, the MRT-3 announced that government employees may avail free rides from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

“Ang inisyatibong ito ay bilang pakikiisa sa pagdiriwang ng ika-119 na anibersaryo ng Philippine Civil Service (PSC),” the MRT-3 management said.

Government employees will have to present their IDs to the MRT-3’s station personnel or security guards for their free rides, it added.

The PSC annually commemorates the enactment of Public Law No. 5 or otherwise known as “An Act for the Establishment and Maintenance of an Efficient and Honest Civil Service in the Philippine Islands.” This was enacted on September 19, 1900./ac
