3 Chinese nationals nabbed for kidnap
MANILA, Philippines–Police arrested three Chinese nationals for allegedly kidnapping a Malaysian tourist whom they had detained inside a casino hotel room in Parañaque City since Monday.
A report by the Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) said Chinese tourists Yuyun Gao, 43, Xin Fan, 21, and Wei Guo Li, 46, held Malaysian Raymond Lim and demanded a total of RMB140,000 (about P1 million) for his release.
The PNP-AKG was alerted of Lim’s kidnapping after receiving a call from an operations manager of Okada Resort and Casino, who reportedly received an email message from the victim, asking for help.
Investigation showed that Lim and another Malaysian companion, Ah Hui, an online casino employee, were approached by the three suspects on Monday morning while they were gambling inside Okada casino.
Sensing the duo had run out of funds, the suspects allegedly offered to lend them P500,000 worth of casino chips, in exchange for a 20-percent commission from their winnings.
