Pagasa: LPA enters PAR, may intensify into tropical depression
MANILA, Philippines — The low pressure area (LPA) off Eastern Samar entered the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) Monday morning, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
In its 4 a.m. weather update, Pagasa weather specialist Ezra Bulquerin said the LPA was last spotted 770 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar.
He added that the LPA may develop into a tropical depression in the next 24 to 36 hours and will be given the local name “Jenny.”
Bulquerin added that the southwest monsoon will continue to affect parts of the country.
Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan), Bicol region, Visayas, Caraga region, Northern Mindanao and Zamboanga Peninsula.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers are expected in Metro Manila and the rest of the country due to localized thunderstorms. /gsg
