AirAsia to passengers: Discard pork-related products upon arrival at Panglao
MANILA, Philippines — Tourists and other travelers flying to Bohol via AirAsia are advised to dispose of all pork and pork-related products at designated bins at the Panglao Airport due to the ban imposed by the provincial government, the airline said.
In an advisory issued Thursday, the airline said that guests were advised to dispose of such products at designated bins at the airport as they exit the aircraft and after they collect their luggage at the airport’s baggage carousel.
“Failure to do so will be subjected to penalties provided under Philippine law,” the advisory read.
This comes after the Bohol local government banned the import or entry of any pig products due to the threat of African swine fever (ASF) outbreak.
Bohol Gov. Arthur Yap, however, noted that those bringing in pork and pork-related products in the province would have to be supported by the Certificate of Meat Inspection issued by the National Meat Inspection Service. /jpv
