Makati cops nab 4 Chinese nationals for alleged extortion racket

MANILA, Philippines — Four Chinese nationals were arrested in Makati City for alleged robbery and extortion, the Makati City Police said Saturday.

The suspects, identified as  Zhang Xu, 30; Liyu Han, 20; Xhou Jurfeng, 24; and Leng Shung, 20, were arrested Friday afternoon at a condominium on Kalayaan Ave., Barangay Pinagkaisahan.

According to the Makati City Police, a woman identified as Wang Jiangwen said that she met the suspects in front of the Chinese Embassy. They introduced themselves as fixers and confiscated her passport with expired visa.

Jiangwen told police that she was threatened to be deported if she will not give the suspects 2,000 yuan.

She went to the Makati Police Station to report about the suspects’ racket.

An entrapment operation was later held to arrest the four nationals, and recovered the victim’s passport. /jpv
