Ex-rebel curses communists during Senate probe

MANILA, Philippines — A rebel returnee, Nancy Dologuin, repeatedly hurled expletives at her former comrades in an open public hearing at the Senate on Wednesday.
During the hearing of the Senate committee on public order and dangerous drugs, Dologuin lamented how life had been difficult for her after she joined the communist group.
“After na nangyari na na-recruit ako, sumampa ako, hindi kailanman magiging normal na ang buhay mo,” she said.
“Gaya sa akin po, bumalik ako, naglaro ako; pero lagi akong hinuhusgahan. ‘Yung sinasabi nilang tutulungan, walang mangyayari. Kawawa sila, pwede pa silang mamatay,” she added.
Dologuin said she was a varsity player when she was recruited at the Mindanao State University (MSU) in Marawi City by the League of Filipino Students (LFS) under the Gabriela Women’s group. She later became an NPA member.
“Ilan na ‘yung naging kasama ko dun na namamatay… Humihingi lang po ako ng paumanhin, t*ngina silang lahat,” she went on.
“Ang kakapal ng mga mukha nila. Kahit mga profesor dun sa school, wala silang awa….” she added.
Dologuin also claimed that many of her former comrades are now in the media.
“Ang dami ko ding naging kasama na nasa media pa din. Andyan sila e. Andyan kayo, t*ngina nyong lahat,” she said.
She said she had no plans to hide that she even dared those who want to kill her to “go ahead.”
In fact, she said she has already accepted the fact that her life will never become normal again.
“Kaya sabi ko, ang buhay hindi ko alam e. Baka paglabas ko lang dito, hindi ko alam, sasaksin ako e,” Dologuin said.
She also accused communist rebels of recruiting new members because of money and their desire to take over the government.
“Ewan ko lang kung kailan nila maagaw. Good luck na lang sa kanila…” she added.
Dologuin though earlier admitted that she was encouraged to join the LFS because of her personal problems.
She said she ran away after a family member attempted to rape her.
“Physically, hindi ka na-abuse pero mentally grabe, kasi ‘pag nakikita ko ‘yung tao na ‘yun na kapamilya ko mismo, gusto ko siyang patayin…” she said.
“So ‘yun, perfect naman lumapit itong LFS na nagpakilalang Grabiela kasi andun ‘yung diwang palaban ko e. So noong na-recruit ako dun, ako na mismo willing na ako e kasi ipaglaban ang karapatan ng mga kababaihan…” Dologuin said.
She admitted though that she would not have been recruited by the rebel group if not because of her experience.
“So minus that traumatic experience, hindi ka mare-recruit nila?” asked Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, who was presiding over the hearing.
