3 teens rescued in Pasig River
MANILA, Philippines — Three teenagers who were struggling to swim in Pasig River near Jones Bridge in Manila were rescued by members of the Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission (PRRC) on Friday afternoon.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, PRRC River Warrior Head Niño Gutierrez spotted two 14-year-old boys and a 15-year-old girl having difficulty swimming in the river with a strong current due to heavy rain.
Some River Warriors then swam towards the minors and gave them life vests.
The teenagers were taken to the Lawton Ferry Station Linear Park where the River Warriors warned them against swimming during bad weather.
“Meanwhile, we in the PRRC wish to remind everyone to please do not swim or bathe in our rivers, especially while it is raining, for your safety. Your health and safety are very important to us,” PRRC Executive Director Jose Antonio Giotia said in a statement.
