Magnitude 6 earthquake rocks Taiwan

TAIPEI — A Magnitude 6 earthquake rocked Yilan County at 5:28 a.m. More information will soon be released by the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) and other relevant authorities.

The epicenter of the temblor was in northeastern Taiwan at a depth of 22.5 km, the bureau’s Seismology Center said.

The earthquake’s highest intensity, which gauges the actual effect of a temblor, measured 6 on Taiwan’s 7-tier intensity scale. It was the 50th earthquake this year.
