Bishop David on sedition rap: ’I’m not antigovernment’
GUAGUA, Pampanga, Philippines — Caloocan Bishop Pablo Virgilio David on Tuesday cleared himself before some 3,000 of his “kabalen” (provincemates) during a solidarity Mass in support of him and other clergymen accused of sedition.
David addressed allegations that he and others were involved in “The Real Narcolist” videos linking President Rodrigo Duterte and his immediate family members to the illegal drugs trade.
“I am not antigovernment… We value democracy and our democratic institutions. We want to see them functional and independent,” he said. —Tonette Orejas
