Suspected drug pusher killed in Lucena drug bust

LUCENA CITY, Philippines  – A suspected notorious drug peddler was killed by police officers after yielding less than one gram of “shabu” (crystal meth), during a buy-bust operation here Thursday night.

Lucena City police chief Lt. Colonel Reydante Ariza identified the suspect as Rommel delos Santos, 35.

A police report said Delos Santos sold shabu to an undercover police officer during the bust in Barangay (village) Dalahican at around 8:20 p.m.

Apparently sensing that he was dealing with an undercover police officer, Delos Santos pulled out a caliber .38 revolver. Police said the police officer was able to run.

Police said Delos Santos gave chase and repeatedly shot the police officer but missed. Another police officer then shot the suspect who died on the spot.

Recovered from the suspect was the caliber .38 revolver and a plastic sachet containing about .27 grams of shabu with an estimated street of around P1,485./muf
