Isko’s anti-‘botcha’ campaign in full gear
MANILA, Philippines — The Manila Veterinary Inspection Board (VIB) on Thursday (JUly 25) seized 272 kilograms of tainted, or more commonly known as “double dead”, goat and chicken meat in operations around Manila.
Dr. Nick Santos, head of the VIB food hygiene and regulatory division, said 167 kilograms of chicken meat worth some P21,000 was seized at the Pampanga Market around 6 a.m.
At least 105 kg of goat meat worth some P84,000 was seized at Arranque Market in Sta. Cruz around 3:30 a.m.
The operations were third in a series by the VIB against tainted meat around Manila.
Routine inspections and operations against tainted meat was ordered by Mayor Isko Moreno in an intensified campaign against “botcha” or unsafe meat./TSB
