A video of 4-year-old Hosea Moneda impressively playing the drum parts of the Christian song “Nothing is Impossible” using an improvised drum set recently went viral on Facebook.

Hosea’s video was uploaded by his mom, Ann Baldemor Moneda, last June 15. The mother could be heard from the video, singing to the drumbeats made by his son for the worship song by the band Planetshakers.

Moneda told INQUIRER.net that they are born again Christians from Paete, Laguna, and they have seen Hosea’s talent in playing drums when he was only 2 years old.

“Actually, walang nagturo sa kanya. 2 years old siya nung una naming nakitaan ng talent sa pagdrudrum,” she said.

(Actually, no one taught him. He was only 2 years old when we first saw his talent in playing the drums.)

“Tuwing may practice [sa music ministry], lagi siyang nanonood. Idol niya kasi yung drummer namin sa church,” Moneda added.

(Every time we practice [for the music ministry], he always watches. He idolizes the drummer in our church.)

Moneda also shared with INQUIRER.net that Hosea’s dad, Almer Moneda, made an improvised drum set out of recycled materials such as stainless cans of milk, flattened bottle caps, toy drums, and wood as its stand.

Hosea is a kindergarten student of RICC Elementary School in Paete, Laguna. He attends church practices with his parents on Saturdays, and participates also in the church services on Sundays.

Meanwhile, his parents were surprised when their son’s video went viral on social media, and they were also thankful for the positive feedback that Hosea has been receiving from the netizens.

As to what she would like to tell other parents on how to handle their children and their giftedness, Mrs. Moneda said, “’Wag tayong magsawa na suportahan ang ating mga anak sa mga bagay na nakakapagpasaya sa kanila, lalo na kung sa ikakabuti naman nila ito, at palagi din natin silang ipanalangin.”

(We should never get tired of supporting our children in everything that makes them happy, especially if it is for their good, and we must always pray for them.)

As of this writing, the video already has over nine million views, 233,000 reactions, 22,000 comments and over 340,000 shares. JB
