Classes suspended in Albay, Camarines Sur due to rains spawned by ‘Falcon’
LEGAZPI CITY –– Albay province extended the suspension of classes at all levels until Wednesday, while Camarines Sur province also declared class suspension after moderate to heavy rains brought by Tropical Storm “Falcon” threatened to bring floods and landslides, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) said.
In Albay, Gov. Al Francis Bichara said Wednesday that classes at all levels remained suspended in all public and private schools in the province.
Classes were suspended in the province on Tuesday due to incessant rains, which started pouring Monday night.
Knee to waist-deep flooding was observed in seven villages of Libon town, according to Claudio Yucot, OCD regional director, citing a report from the disaster council of Libon.
A minor landslide was reported in Barangay Burabod on Tuesday.
In Legazpi City, ankle to knee-deep flooding was also observed in the city streets. Power outages were also reported.
Bichara said the suspension would be lifted once the weather condition normalized.
In Camarines Sur, Gov. Migz Villafuerte on Wednesday also directed local disaster councils to suspend classes at all levels due to bad weather.
