Magnitude 4.3 quake shakes North Cotabato
MANILA, Philippines — (Update) A magnitude 4.3 earthquake shook North Cotabato Monday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
Phivolcs said the epicenter was traced 24 kilometers (km) southwest of Makilala, North Cotabato at 12:26 p.m.
The tectonic quake, which had a preliminary magnitude of 4.1, occurred at a depth of 14 km.
The latest earthquake to jolt the area was felt at Intensity III in Kidapawan, Instrumental Intensity II in Tupi, South Cotabato and Intensity I in Alabel, Sarangani.
Phivolcs said this was an aftershock of the magnitude 5.6 earthquake that struck North Cotabato last July 9.
No damage or aftershocks are expected from the latest earthquake. / gsg
