Isko Moreno says he has no plans to run for president

MANILA, Philippines — Manila Mayor Isko Moreno bared on Saturday that he has no plans to run for president when his term in the city government ends, noting that he will instead focus on serving the people of Manila.
“Mas lalo namang problema yan, I owe it to the people of Manila and we deserve something else. I would rather focus sa mandate ng tao sa Manila because they are expecting,” Moreno told reporters after the inspection of Estero San Antonio Abad, Barangay 718 in Malate, Manila when asked if it crossed his mind to join the presidential race in 2022.

Moreno said he is thinking of teaching about his experience in the local government when his term as Manila mayor ends.
“Hindi pumapasok sa isipan ko. In fact, after ko mag-mayor magtuturo ako. Honestly, I have been teaching lectures sa local governments. Mase-share ko yung karanasan [ko] more than academic provisions syllabus and laws of Local Government Code,” he said.
When asked about his reaction on people comparing him to former Manila Mayor Arsenio Lacson, Moreno said that they are “incomparable.”
“Incomparable yan, wala ako sa kalingkinan nun. Nakakahiya kay Mayor Arsenio Lacson kung nabubuhay siya. Wala ako sa kalingkinan nun,” Moreno said. /jpv
