MANILA, Philippines — Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso on Friday issued a warning to city residents who are tampering electricity lines: “Bistado na kayo!”

“Mananawagan po ako muli, yung mga nakagawian niyo na dati na madidilim na bahagi, bistado na po kayo,” Moreno said while in Recto on the sidelines of a cleaning operation.

The newly elected mayor told reporters that some residents in Manila install jumpers and illegally connect into the city’s mainline electricity connection, then distribute it to other people.

“Eh di yung kuryente, city government ang magbabayad sa Meralco,” Moreno explained.

“Oh tapos yung mga siga, eh Spider-man! Ita-tap tapos ‘idi-distribute.’ Di lang Meralco ang distributor ng kuryente sa Maynila.”

He reiterated his plea, adding: “Sayang ho, baka ma-aresto pa kayo, baka maposasan pa kayo. Gusto ba natin ‘yun?”

Moreno also bared that he has also talked to Meralco about cleaning the electric posts along Recto Avenue all the way to Abad Santos to rid the city of illegal power connections.

“We have to put order,” Moreno said. “There must be certainty in the city of Manila.” (Editor: Jonathan P. Vicente)
